I will once again be joining my wife and daughter in the battle against breast cancer as we walk in the 2016 Philadelphia 3Day. My wife is BRCA positive and living against all odds with Stage 4 breast cancer. You have had such a tremendous impact on my family. You have not only supported us as we have battled through this disease you have become part of our hearts. We have fought breast cancer together as a family for many years, It’s time to finally find a cure, and for that I once again ask for your generous donations to help me reach my goal. I am proud to say that this year, I will not just be walking with my family and our amazing team Friends With Heart but I will be joining forces with Men With Heart, a non-profit all-volunteer organization dedicated to eradicating breast cancer by raising awareness and funds and motivating men to join in the fight by not just walking but providing support on event.
The weekend will be filled with blisters and sore muscles but it is also a testament of the enduring human spirit and the strength and commitment of an amazing group of people to a world without breast cancer. Four generations of our family have fought breast cancer and we know that a cure must be found in this generation. Too many mothers, daughters, sisters, friends have been lost. Too many families have too many empty chairs at their table so we stand with you to make a difference and to find a cure and I will add to the fight by putting on a yellow Men With Heart Shirt and shouldering a backpack filled with essentials to provide comfort to all my fellow walkers.
This year as we gather together there will be laughter and there will be tears. There will be walkers with sore feet and tired muscles and there will be crew members exhausted as they insure the safety and well being of the walkers at this event. Every person here plays an important role in making this event so special. Men With Heart will be on sight to help ease these challenges by taking a moment to help someone who is struggling physically or emotionally. In doing so we hope it will give you a small part of our experience and who knows you may make a connection that will last a lifetime.
We will celebrate the survivors and we will mourn the pink angels who may no longer stand beside us but whose spirit will forever leave a mark on our hearts. We accept that we may lose battles but we will never accept defeat. This is a war we cannot and must not lose. We must continue to raise awareness and funding for research so that one day we can gather together to celebrate and honor not just the lives we have lost but the lives we have saved.
I am honored to be a part of Men With Heart and the Susan G. Komen community. Your continued generous donations continue to provide my family with time. Time to be together and time to make a difference. You are amazing individuals and together we are unstoppable. I walk because my family and I cannot walk away. I walk so that no man has to walk in my shoes.
